Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Combat Party

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.

Viewers can expect finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
